A mass bike ride dedicated to World Bicycle Day took place in the Afghan city of Herat on May 29. The event was organized by the Consulate General together with Afghan partners as part of the "Year of International Peace and Trust", the press service of the consulate reported to Turkmenportal.
The bike ride along the city's central streets was attended by local cyclists, representatives of regional authorities and diplomatic missions working in Herat.
The organizers reminded that World Bicycle Day was established by the UN General Assembly on the initiative of Turkmenistan and has since been celebrated in many countries around the world.
The participants of the event were thanked for their active participation in promoting physical culture, healthy lifestyle and the development of the sports movement in the region.
