World-famous Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan, star of the films “Rush hour” and “Armour of God”, has now officially received a black belt in karate. This news was confirmed on the website of the World Karate Federation (WKF), writes daily.afisha.ru.
The ceremony of awarding the honorary symbol of mastery took place in New York at the premiere of the new film "The karate kid: Legends". In addition to Chan, his colleague in the industry Ralph Macchio was also awarded a black belt. WKF Secretary General Toshihisa Nagura personally congratulated both actors.
The event also featured Thomas Scott, Olympic competitor and US Karate Champion. The gala was part of a partnership between the WKF and the creators of “The karate kid” franchise, highlighting the significant contribution of cinema to the dissemination of the core principles of karate: discipline, respect, honor, fortitude and unity.
“The karate kid: Legends” Kid was released worldwide on May 8. In the film, Chan and Macchio play experienced martial artists who help a young talent, Lee Fong (Ben Wan), adapt to New York City and prepare to participate in a karate tournament. The film was directed by Jonathan Entwistle and written by Rob Lieber.
