The Turkmenistan National Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, consisting of 13 athletes, is taking part in the international tournament "EAST CUP & Olympic Stars" in the Chinese city of Guangzhou. This was reported by the Chairman of the Gymnastics Federation of Turkmenistan Dovran Chagylov in his article for the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan".
According to him, before leaving for China, the championship of Turkmenistan was held in Mary velayat, which was also a qualifying round for the national team. About 60 athletes from Mary and Balkan velayats, as well as Ashgabat, took part in the competition.
Following the championship, 12 sets of awards were played out. Nine gold medals were won by representatives of the capital, two by athletes from the Mary velayat and one by a gymnast from the Balkan velayat.
The head coach of the national team, Fiza Ayvazova, together with coaches Anara Veliyeva and Elena Ustimova, prepared the Turkmen athletes for the international competitions in Guangzhou.
The “EAST CUP” tournament is an important part of the preparation of Turkmen gymnasts for the 2025-2028 Olympic cycle. At the previous competitions of this series in Tashkent in the summer of 2023, Turkmen athletes won 20 medals, including 12 gold.
The training program for Turkmen gymnasts was developed with the participation of the leadership of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and the Asian Gymnastics Union (AGU), whose representatives visited Turkmenistan in September last year.
