The first direct flight from the Chinese city of Urumqi landed at Yerevan Airport on Wednesday, marking the beginning of regular air communication between Armenia and China. This historic event is the result of years of work and opens a new chapter in the relations between the two countries, “MIR 24” reports.
Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan and China's Charge d'Affaires in Armenia Chen Ming personally attended the arrival of the first flight. Sanosyan emphasized the historical significance of the moment, noting that this is the first air service between Armenia and China in the history of their relations.
Flights on the Urumqi-Yerevan-Urumqi route will be operated twice a week - on Tuesdays and Saturdays. It is expected that the new air service will contribute to the growth of passenger traffic, the development of educational and cultural contacts, as well as the strengthening of business cooperation between the two nations.
In addition to the opening of direct flights, the possibility of abolishing work and study visas between Armenia and China is currently under discussion, which could further simplify interaction between the countries and open up new prospects for cooperation.
